Life as a Farm Wife
Welcome to the ramblings of my mind and the passions of my heart. Who am I? I am a child of God, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a teacher and a constant learner... often the hard way.

Three-Year-Old Wonder

Jett Jaxon Schultz is three years old!

Actually, he turned 3 a month ago... I'm a little slow in posting this ;)

I'm crazy about this boy, AND he drives me crazy.

I love my boy more than I could ever express and take great pleasure and pride in watching him grow up. He is a very expressive, vibrant, energetic, articulate, stubborn, sweet, and busy boy. I love him just the way he is; even if he does drive me nuts sometimes.

Here are some of my favourite pictures of Jett from this last year's journey towards three.

Jett's world was invaded by a little sister just before he turned two, but now I don't think he remembers life without Kalena. He loves her. He also loves dominating over her. It's been really fun to watch as the begin to actually play together more and more. Hearing the two of them giggling together is pretty much one of the best sounds in the world. (Shrieking together, not so much.)

I love his grin.

A hug?

Jetty really wants to help around the farm but I think it will be a few years before we get him saddled up on this machine. ;)

We all got a little too much sun at Dalmeny Days last year ;)

Rain or shine, Jett has to put in a decent amount of time 'farming' in the dirt. ;)

Never afraid to get dirty!

Jett loves to ride horses....
Even the plastic kind ;)

Jetty loves the water and has not exhibited much fear around it. (Which gives ME some fear) He insists on riding waterslides independently and he was thrilled to have his first tube ride behind uncle Dennis's boat last summer at Turtle Lake. (Tube rides are NOT the same as I remember from growing up. Shouldn't every ride flip you off at least once?)

He LOVES lake life.

I love this picture of Jett because his hair is so great. My children seem to take forever to grow hair, so when it finally comes in and he has these sweaty curls, I love it!  He's had a different 'do for awhile now and it's much shorter in the back.

I LOVE watching Jett's love for the farm and his desire to "help"  grow. He loves to shadow his daddy and his papa. It's pretty much every little boys dream, he gets to ride in big machines on a regular basis. This is his normal.

Jetty loves to feed the calves... AND climb fences.

I love this . :)

A Mr. Fix-it in the making, Jett loves to be a big helper when the machinery needs a tune-up. (Although, sometimes the wrenches are difficult to find after Jett has been busy 'helping')

In October this past year (2012), we were able to put our combine in the World Record Breaking Harvest for Kids event where around 250 combines harvested a field of oats in under 10 min. It was pretty incredible to see and we had 3 generations proudly representing the Schultz Family Farm. (Too bad the youngest generation fell asleep in the combine before the green light to start was given.)

As everyone in Sask can attest to, this past winter was incredibly LONG! Jett was excited to make a snowman (he named him, "Garf") after our first major snowfall... in mid October.

Jett had a monkey costume for halloween, but he didn't actually wear it out anywhere. ;) Can you guess who Mitch and Jett are supposed to be? (Still one of J's favourite shows)

We love to go to Texas to visit family. We love Uncle Carson, Aunty Hilary and Cousins, Cooper and Annie Austen.  Mitch did have to have an emergency appendectomy in Galveston this past trip, which made it a little different than usual. (You can read about it HERE)

Jett and Cooper are 2 months apart in age and are both spirited, fun-loving boys. I wish they lived closer so they could have more of these fun moments!

Likes to walk in his daddy's shoes. :)

We put Jett in gymnastics this past year, which he loved. Here he's doing his "motorcycle stop" complete with jaw and fist clench. ;)

Jetty's Sunday School class performed in the Christmas Concert at our church and it was SO much fun to watch my boy on stage. Yes, he's the wanderer and doesn't know how to appropriately stand and sit on stage, but my mama heart was beaming with pride anyway. (You can read about it HERE)

This snuggly moment captured in the above pic is courtesy of a hard lesson learned. Jett stuck his tongue to the frozen handle bars on a bike sitting against our house outside and learned that when you try to quickly get it off, the frost likes to keep some skin behind. A sad and quiet evening in our home, this was. I just hopes he remembers to NOT learn this lesson again next year!

Thanks to the massive amounts of snow we had on the ground well before Christmas, "Schultz Mountain" was constructed and provided MANY hours of climbing, digging, and sledding fun. In the pic below, we invented our own new winter activity, "Snow Jumping" (Off of a six-foot ladder into deep snow)

Jett held a girl's hand for the first time; sweet Miss Olivia. Jane and I were just gushing behind them ;)

At the end of January, we were privileged to be able to take a break from the frigid long Saskatchewan winter, and enjoy some hot Mexican sun. Jett loved Mexico. (You can read about the trip HERE) When he wakes up in the morning he actually often asks me, "Mom, can we go to Mexico today?" I wish, my boy, I wish.

How do you slow down a busy boy to make it easier to keep track of him? Bury him with sand, of course. ;)

AND when the hot holiday was over, we came home for another 3 months of winter...

In April, at the Saskatoon Dairy Show and sale, Jett showed his first calf (alongside a beaming daddy)

And Jett's THREE! I couldn't be more thrilled with my boy.
(Well, okay, if he regularly pooped on the potty, I would be MORE thrilled ;)
